Welcome to Chicago Link Decals

Hand crafted, meticulously studied, and Cartograf printed

The Link

What is Chicago Link? Chicago Link was the name of a proposed addition to the Wisconsin Central's system, which would have brought more trackage under their umbrella via CSX Transportation's Altenheim Sub. While the sale didn't occur, the selected reporting mark was applied to a sizable fleet of 50' boxcars. Today, Chicago Link Decals pays homage to my passions, modeling focus, and creates the ability to provide decals that are currently nonexistent, or accurate enough, for fellow enthusiasts like you.

Models using our artwork.

Straight out of the box Rapido artwork, showcasing a generic font for all the lettering on the hopper.

CLD art over Rapido paint.

Full repaint from an NSC kit. Added reinforcement plates to the sill, but other than that it's all Rapido tooling. Roofwalk to come after weathering.

Close up on the details to be found on the A end. Correct 1975 build date on the three panel, along with a 1992 inspection date above the stirrup, and a barely visible inspection stencil for the draft gear (right of the lube plate, hidden)

Getting closer to calling it complete.

SBD 246759 sunbathing. More of an approximation than pure prototype, but it was a fun use of the Seaboard sheet. Athearn 4600, Tangent 100 Ton trucks, Kadee couplers, ICG Decals ACI plate and dual COTS helped bring it home.
